March on D.C. draws 2 million!

The photo below is a view of part of the crowd of protesters who gathered in Washington, D.C. and around the country today to demand control of reckless runaway government spending and to voice their opposition to the government takeover of healthcare.

Video cam photo 912

D.C. police estimates the crowd at 1.2 million. ABC News, however, reported this afternoon that the crowd was estimated at 2 million.

By the way, one of the Patriot’s steet reporters asked one policeman what he thought:

the DC police officer said, “I’ve been here 20 years and this is the largest crowd I’ve ever seen.”

No matter which way you cut it, the size and scope of today’s citizen march on Washington is an historic, groundbreaking event. Ordinary citizens who have been called ‘the great silent majority’ normally do not protest…at least not in public. That day is long gone.

912 march

The outrage expressed by normal, everyday citizens from across the nation at the town hall meetings in August is a case in point. Never before in recent history or memory have citizens been so clearly, visibly–and audibly–enraged by the actions of their government.

These are the people who go to work everyday, pay the bulk of the taxes of the country, raise families, and do their best to provide a safe environment for themselves in their local communities. They don’t have time for ‘political activism’ as the hippies who protested the Viet Nam war.

Yet these dedicated men and women, at great personal expense, took the time to travel to Washington to make their voices heard in a tsunami of collective rage, mainly because they have become convinced that their elected leaders are not listening to them any longer.

And you bet they want ‘change.’ They want to replace most if not all of the Representatives and Senators in Congress for being hopelessly out of touch with the citizenry. They want a President who loves liberty, the Constitution, the Bill of Rights, and who reflects that love in the policies that are proposed. They don’t want leftwing, radical extremists who espouse everything from forced abortions, healthcare rationing for the elderly, limiting free speech on radio, and other social and political engineering from bureaucrats who sit comfortably in their Washington offices while demanding that ordinary citizens in the heartland adhere to edicts that the politicians have no intention of following.

Further, these patriotic ‘peasants with pitchforks and torches’ clearly do not want the trillion-dollar proposals that add mind-boggling burdens to the national debt and budget deficit for generations to come. And they don’t want their taxes raised to pay for the Washington elitists’ insistence on unheard-of government spending that is sending the nation into debtor’s quicksand to the tune of 400 billion dollars per month since Obama took office.

912 march

The question is, will Pelosi, Reid, Barney Frank, Chris Dodd, Steny Hoyer, Charles Rangle, and Barack Obama get the message and alter the present course? Don’t count on it.

But one thing is for sure. The sleeping giant of the ‘great silent majority’ has been awakened, and they aren’t going anywhere.

Great video, Bob. There are many other videos and pictures all over the blogs. This is a real success. I hope the Courts will hear about it. I hope it will give them guts to go thru with the eligibility issue.

    Keep the pressure on!

I watched the whole 3 hours C-Spam video, live coverage of the event.

It was great! Americans sure know how to organize such a huge event.

I heard many good speaches, from all sort of people. I heard things I agreed with, like: “It’s the Constitution, stupid”.

There was a black group that did a rap song, wich included the phrase: “… and where’s the birth certificate?” The crowd went wild and sheered loudly.

The organizers said they had paralysed D.C…. streets and higways had to be closed. They believe they were more than 2 millions.

The only things I did not like, were a few congressmen and senators who spoke a minute or two. What were they doing there, anyway? They are all acconplices for Obama usurpation of the presidency. Their silence is treason to the Americans.

Besides that, it was fantastic. I really enjoyed every minute of it. It was almost like being there.

Usurper BO is on the campaign trail trying to sell his deathcare crap. He is not a good “president”. All he knows how to do is campaign. He has to go. This is getting old and tiring. I have never seen any other president going around campaigning for their agenda. Maybe because they didn’t have such nasty agenda like the usurper and liar in thief.

We have enough cause to not only Impeach the Dictator, but to convict him of treason. The fact that he was able to make it this far in his anti constitutional, anti Christian, pure defilement of American values, is more of a sign for We the People who voted this monster into office! We have allowed him to keep vital documents of his real identity sealed until recently . Spiritual blindness, or apathy has caused this whole problem. Now is when the rubber meets the road. Lets WAKE UP AMERICA!! We will spiritually unify or die. http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=138503468480

  17. French Canadian Says:

The crowd yesterday was at the least 1,5 millions. I believe it was larger than this if you rely on this explanation:

    From:
    http://www.usatoday.com/news/washington/2009-01-19-crowd_N.htm

    Excerpts:

Estimating the size of a crowd requires aerial photographs, dimensions of the gathering space, and an estimate of the crowd’s density.

If the National Mall is densely packed from Third Street to the Washington Monument, and if the area from the monument to the Lincoln Memorial has an average density, the space could contain 1.5 million people, Barna said. Average density is one person per 5 square feet. A tightly packed crowd has a density of one person per 2.5 square feet, an area slightly larger than this newspaper.

Clark McPhail, a University of Illinois professor and expert in crowd estimation, said it’s “very important” to provide a number, even if only an estimate. “These are events of historical significance,” he said.

  18. French Canadian Says:

And let’s not forget all the others Tea Party in different States that took place at the same time:

    - 12,000 PATRIOTS IN QUINCY, ILLINOIS! (Video)
    From Gateway Pundit (Jim Hoft)

Anyone has other crowd attending in other States?

I also found this blogger’s comment on Flopping Aces:

“For those fortunate to attend this historical effort, we knew something huge was happening not only in DC, but also, in the country. For everyone of us at the event, quite a few more would have liked to have joined in DC, but were simply not able or attended a number of same-day-rallies being held throughout the country.

In the final hour of the event, we asked a several of the capitol uniformed police if they had an estimate of the event attendees and were told, by all of them, there were more people attending this DC rally than at the 2009 inauguration event. Additionally, there were over 4000 parked buses — that transported rally goers — AND some buses having been turned away and not allowed to unload their passengers – maximum capacity had been reached!”

    Excerpts:

    September 13, 2009

It’s official. All major media are now reporting between 1.5 to 2 million marches on Washington D.C. for the Tea Party Protest. Sponsored by libertarian groups such as Americans for Prosperity, Freedom Works, and self-described “libertarian” Fox News Host Glenn Beck, today’s event is now the largest libertarian event in the history of the United States.

  20. William Says:

There are more of us at home that really wanted to go, such as, those who had to work, disabled, children to tend to, ect. The next Presidentual election if we are given the same type of choices between the parties I say lets all write in Glenn Beck for President. I know he doesn’t care to run for the job but he is the only person who is truly standing on the principles what we beleive in and understands the Constitution and the Bill of Rights as we understand them. Thanks Mr. Glenn Beck for being the voice that united a nation. We grew and grew and none as seen the true force of those who are standing up…but they will if they continue in Washington D.C. the way they have these past few months. They may want our destruction but paper and words can not destroy the people who believe in freedom. God Bless America, Again!

  21. Bill,from West Virginia Says:

And,does it not say something when Obama sees 1.5 million people walking toward his house who do not like him or his policies very much, and he dismisses them?
And for the White House to say, ” they knew nothing of the rally or march”
They are either, ignorant, arrogant, stupid or just plain unvarnished liars!
That’s right I called them liars! That is one thing that they do well!

  22. Follow the Constitution Says:

Of course they were LYING! They really thought the turn out wasn’t going to be much and they could just down play it afterwards as merely a FEW right wing extremists!

In the words of Gomer Pile: SURPRISE! SURPRISE!

Let’s see what BS they dream up to discredit this movement! The ones that shouldn’t discredit this if they know what’s good for them are all the Senators and Congress people! They are the ones that should really get a wake up call here, because if they are dumb enough to try and blow this off, then that just proves they are too STUPID to be in office and need to get booted out!

  23. Follow the Constitution Says:

Here is a message to Washington and all those that thought this was only a few right wing extermists involved! LOL

I was there!!!!! This was the most amazing, awesome thing.
People were kind, respectful to one another. The westwood one photo you see atop the page is when we left freedom plaza to march to the capitol. the entire capitol grounds as far to each as as you could see was full of people. The DC police route people around to the sides as they ran out of room in the street. The crowd stretched from the capitol back to our starting point at the Freedom Plaza.
As people marched you could hear singing of God Bless America, the Pledge of Allegiance and chants of USA USA USA. It was like rolling thunder bouncing off the dome of the Capitol. Seeing it on TV is nothing compared to being there.
I advice anyone that is not active to start before we loose our country. I firmly believe Glenn Beck is right. Check out what col. peters says……..

I was there. It was incredible.

A CNN camera man told a woman that was talking with them that this wasn’t the largest march in DC - that the Million Man march was bigger than this one - that it had a million marchers….. Sorry CNN the Million Man March did not have a million marchers. The biggest march was MLK…. he just turned his back and said ‘you just can’t talk to some people’…. what was the problem I simply, nicely, just pointed out that he was wrong.

Another gentleman was walking by and ask when they were going to start filming? The camera man told him “when something starts happening.”

What was he waiting for? An angry mob? A fight? He started filming when the police officers showed up and barricaded PA ave - is this what CNN was waiting for?

Well CNN, if you were waiting for “something to happen” - you missed it, I mean seriously you missed IT. IT was all around. IT was in the electricity of the moment. IT was our fellow marchers following the officers request. IT was the millions of AMERICANS expressing their opinion. IT was peaceful. IT was respectful. IT was all around you.

I was there!!! the hour long wait in line at the mere 70 portajohns was dubbed “the healthecare line”, and despite it all, the goodwill was astounding! What a wonderful event!

I think it is very important for each of us who were there to contact our members of congress to let them know what they missed (ignored). Let them do the math when the emails and letters com in!

  30. French Canadian Says:

Once again Pastor Manning said exactly what I tought but didn’t say in my comments yesterday. I shut up because I was proud of the 1,5 to 2,0 millions people who bothered to join the event. I did not wanted to discourage you people.

But the reality is that nothing was said at that event. Manning noticed that Obama’s name was mentioned maybe twice in the whole day. Speakers were blaming Congress, MSM but not Obama. The speaches were boring… all the same polically correct loser speaches. “Were going to take back our country in 2010/ 2012.” We all now this will not happen. Dictators are never voted out, they are kicked out.

People were very disappointed… they went there to find someone that would lead them, they didn’t find anyone. Sarah Palin, Joe Wilson, Alan Keyes, Glen Beck were not there. Manning was asked to speak but finally they said it is better you don’t speak… you are too dynamite.

This is the problem with Americans, they want to be politically correct, so they lose. They want to be like John McCain who lost precisely for that reason. Manning said many people had signs of “Where’s the birt certificate” or “Long Legged Mack Daddy”… but none of the videos showed them… “politically correct”, one more time.

People didn’t want to leave the event, they were waiting for something, anything… but they didn’t get it. They wanted someone who would have stand up and say: “We don’t even know who this guy is… is he from Kenya or Honoulu, is he Muslim or Christian, etc… we want to see his records”. But no one did it… politically correct again. A real disease the “politically correct” in America.. No wonder MSM ignores you… you do not fight back. They know it, you play right in their hands.

Manning said they came here with fear and they left with even more fear. They did not find their leader. A Patrick Henry style figure.

Anyways, I encourage everyone to listen to today’s Manning Report. At least listen to the first hour of it, you will get the general idea. An hour goes very fast with him, it seems like 10 minutes. While I listen to him, I do some cards game on the Net… lol. Every half hour I put it on pause, read a few blogs, make comments… and come back to the program. It is very pleasant. I believe Manning would be a great leader even though he doesn’t want to become a politician, he is happy being a Pastor.

Listen to him, he says it a whole lot of better than I.

Quite interesting how Gibbs said that Obama “knew nothing” about the March - - considering how they and their trolls have been spying on all of the Internet blogs! Either the FBI isn’t doing their job or the Administration is lying - -YOU be the judge!

I was so glad to see the people wake up and take off in this fashion. I know Americans will push and push if they realize what is happening. I think they do now, thanks to Beck and others, Hannity, Limbaugh, all the hosts that tell it honestly. No litter, the inaugeration left tons of litter, but that is ok, his people will be gone when he goes and as God is my witness I hope and pray he is handcuffed and led away soon, the sooner the better. He is destroying this country where I once served in U.S. marine corps. so I am an old veteran of ww2. God bless america, obey god, leave all consequences to him. He Is Lord!!!!!
