White House announces televised health meet
Here’s an excerpt from the article:
President Barack Obama is planning to host a televised meeting with Republican and Democratic congressional leaders on health care reform.
The Feb. 25 meeting is an attempt to reach across the aisle but not a signal that the president plans to start over, as Republicans have demanded, a White House official said.
“I want to come back [after the Presidents Day congressional recess] and have a large meeting — Republicans and Democrats — to go through, systematically, all the best ideas that are out there and move it forward,” Obama said in an interview with Katie Couric during CBS’s Super Bowl pre-game show Sunday.
Obama said he wants to “look at the Republican ideas that are out there.”
“If we can go, step by step, through a series of these issues and arrive at some agreements, then, procedurally, there’s no reason why we can’t do it a lot faster the process took last year,” he said.
In a statement, the official said, “What the president will not do is let this moment slip away. He hopes to have Republican support in doing so — but he is going to move forward on health reform.”
Obama first suggested reopening talks with Republicans during his State of the Union address last month, and reiterated the call at a Democratic fundraiser Thursday, but the White House had kept details of his plan under wraps until Sunday.
The idea has been met previously with skepticism by the congressional leaders of both parties. Republicans say they see little room for compromise because the bill should be scrapped, while Democrats argue they have already tried a bipartisan approach, but failed.

This is ALL propaganda. Obama couldn’t pass gas in Congress right now. The Politico website had over 900 comments on this.. I briefly read through the first 100.. just about all the comments were anti-Obama.. This is quite unusual for Politico.. many of the folks that hang-out at Politico are half-baked liberals.

I wouldn’t trust this idiot to do anything with republicans, he lies the minute he opens his mouth and expects all to believe him. I will never believe him in a eternity. Maybe some do and I never will. All this hype, just get rid of the idiot and maybe some of the huge debt we have might be lowered, not sure about anything at this point in time. Just want him out and not sure anybody knows how to do this. God Bless America

I can certainly understand Mr.Rices feelings but too my way
of thinking that ANY apology simply is beyond consideration
because these questions have been on the forefront for
almost two years and could have easily been addressed by the stroke of a pen.Yes,I will admit that there have been times in my life that I was duty bound to apologize but it never required a span of years.

You people it’s not about the birth certificate. We have got to push the issue of his parents. That is what makes him illegal. Not the BC. His parents are not both natural born citizens. That is a proven fact. What am I missing here. Also, Rush said today on air that the meeting he wants to have with the Rep. is a trap! He warned them not to attend! He will use it against us. Because if he can get one or two Rep. to vote for his plan, then when it fails, and it will, the Dems can blame the Rep. I pray the Republicans stays away from anything that has to do with this health care reform. We need reform, but not this one.

and yes,most Texans are aware of Rick Perry with all his talk and no walk.While I dearly love that little cutie with apparently some common sense,I’m afraid there are those who believe Sarah Palin is going to ride in,on her white stallion and save the day but this is the same old rope a dope the Republicans have played
for years ie. “We promise to do better !” next time.Well as far as I am concerned if the Republicans don’t do better before Nov 2010 and start speaking up,they can forget a “next time” from me anyway.I hope Patriots are aware of this shell game.
