WARNING: This is a progressive left moonbat posting on Media Matters. What really caught my eye was the claim that only 100,000 or so people showed up at the Washington DC march. What kind of glue are these guys sniffing? I distinctly remember a DC park’s person saying he couldn’t ever remember such a large crowd before!

Here’s the story:

Tea Party protests continue to grow, retroactively

Over the weekend, Instapundit’s Gleen Reynold unccorked the claim that over the past twelves months “millions of Americans” had taken to the streets to protest the Obama administration. The problem? Rather than millions, the actually number is probably in the low six-figures.

Oops.

But mere facts have never stopped Glenn Beck, of course. So yesterday he endorsed the Reynolds fabrication and wallowed in the wonder of the “millions and millions of tea party people” who protested last year.

Punchline: Beck made the phony crowd claim while critiquing the New York Times’ supposedly inaccurate Tea Party reporting!

UPDATED: Also last night on Fox News, Tea Party organizer Karin Hoffman eagerly spread more falsehoods about protests, claiming 1.7 million people showed up in D.C. last September. According to official crowd estimates by D.C. officials, that number misses the mark by 1.6 million. [DC officials never said any such thing -- emphasis mine]

Please note, the Tea Party movement is now building itself around an obvious, and provable, lie. Will the press ever point that out? [so this liberal is worried about the Press pointing out a lie -- more Koolaide anyone? -- emphasis mine]

Here dip-head: take a look at this cell-phone “live” photo. Tell me only 100,000 showed up? This was taken on the main rally day.. the police were closing down incoming roads because of overcrowding. You didn’t see this on your puny Media Matters website or even FoxNews. The MSM wouldn’t even cover the event.

This is a great video. It has been banned on YouTube and now its back.. we are not sure who the author is. If you Goggle “America Rising video” it doesn’t tell you who made it. We took the video and converted it to a Flash file so you can view it on our website.

Enjoy!

Note: you may have to wait 10 to 15 seconds for the file to start down-loading into the flash player.. be patient. You can also hit the “pause” button and let the file download a little before playing.

What was the Rally and Meeting in Washington DC about? The quick response is big government spending, healthcare, constitutional authority, the appointments of unconstitutional czars, cap and trade bill issues, and a whole host of other concerns that patriotic U.S. citizens have. The point is there were many reasons for people to show up at this event.

Personally, I believe the “birther” issue, whether or not Obama/Soetoro is eligible to even be in this country, much less be eligible to be on the democratic ballot to be elected President of the U.S., is a much more important question. If this question is HONESTLY answered, I believe there will be a whole host of problems that will simply become null and void due to the fact that everything this enemy has done will be automatically reversed.

With regard to enemies, did everyone see the snipers on top of the Capitol Building Saturday? I, as well as other patriots, noticed them. There were at least 6 that were easily recognized, and to tell the truth, it made me more than a little uncomfortable. When did we become “enemies of the state”? Since when does our government need to monitor us with deadly force? We have millions of illegal immigrants, and since 9-11 has exposed, more than a few terrorists that are illegally in this country, yet our government chooses to point guns at the crowds of people peacefully gathering to use our constitutional right and patriotic duty to address our government with our concerns and grievances. Does this bother anyone else?

Back to the important question, why were we there? It is my humble opinion that if our government even bothered to listen, we could have and should have made a huge impact on the decisions that are being made as well as the path that our elected officials have taken. The fact of the matter is, most every senator and representative, as well as the usurper-in-chief, were out of town. I personally told Arkansas Representative Marion Berry, Senator Blanche Lincoln, and one of Senator Mark Pryor’s staff members that they should be watching on Saturday. I was not surprised to learn that none of them were even in town.

On the Thursday before the Saturday rally, I was in a group that was scheduled to meet with Representative Berry, Senator Pryor, and Senator Lincoln. The meeting with Representative Berry was, to say the least, disappointing. It was absolutely insulting to each and every constituent that is in this congressional district. As he reared back and explained that he had been there since the Clinton administration, with an attitude of arrogance that is equaled only by his obvious disdain for the group that was talking to him, I was reminded of the fact that we needed a photographer to take a picture of the quintessential “Washington DC Fat cat”. I am positive that anyone else with the “privilege” of addressing the less-than-honorable Marion Berry would have been as insulted as I was by his complete lack of concern and his inept attempts of explaining his superior position, as well as his ability to foresee the future. His psychic ability was explained by the “fact” that he knew that in the not-too-distant future, no one would be able to afford healthcare if the U.S. government did not step in to save us. We all left with a feeling of disappointment due to the fact that Mr. Berry had just explained to us that we were not even smart enough to live our own lives without the federal government taking care of us. Imagine our shock to realize that everything we have been taught about self-reliance, the ability to forge our own destiny, and the freedom to make our own choices was nothing more than a fairy tale.

After the short walk to Senator Mark Pryor’s office, we were not surprised when we were told that Senator Pryor had been called to the White House. After all, what kind of king would allow his court jesters to be confronted by anyone, much less the people that were silly enough to expect an honest day’s work for a bloated day’s wage, especially since we were the very people that elected these people? After talking for almost an hour with one of Senator Pryor’s staff, we made the short trip up one flight of stairs to Senator Lincoln’s office only to be told that Senator Lincoln was going to be late for our meeting. We waited until Senator Lincoln returned from her trip back down Pennsylvania Avenue from the castle formerly known as the White House. By the time Senator Lincoln had concluded her rendition of the DC shuffle, we were once again in shock.

I can honestly say that Thursday afternoon was one of the most awesome displays of sidestepping issues, ignoring the facts, fake concern, and outright contempt for the voters that elected these “leaders” that has ever been orchestrated. In my opinion, these three “leaders” deserve a promotion from the king, our royal “messiah”, the delusional Mr. Obama/Soetoro, or whatever he wants to call himself today. Or better yet, maybe those silly old constituents can arrange a retirement party for them. It is my opinion that the sooner we arrange for their departure from our government, the sooner we can begin the arduous task of restoring our constitutional republic to the original intent and mutual benefit to all hard-working legal U.S. citizens.

In conclusion, I would like to expound on my reason for being in Washington DC for the Patriotic March and the few days leading up to that historic event. I was taught that government was by the people, for the people, and the elected representatives were responsible to uphold our constitution and the constituents that elected them. I have spent the last several months discovering that most everything I was taught is no longer accurate. I, like so many other disillusioned patriots, have become aware that our constitutional republic is under attack by a socialistic type movement that can only be compared to the Nazi movement of the 1930s perpetrated by one of the most notoriously evil men that ever lived. If you do not think this to be an accurate description of events happening today, simply read about the decade leading up to World War II. There are two things that I ask you not to do. Please do not just take my word for it, do your own research, come to your own conclusion. Second, but more important, do not simply disregard my opinions with the assumption that I am just a “right-wing conspiracy nut”. I do understand how bizarre this sounds to the average U.S. citizen, but does the fact that something may sound too bizarre make it any less real? Remember the old adage, “Truth is stranger than fiction”.

From Eva in New York:

Greetings dear Friends! I’m back in New York City — a little sun burned on my face and neck, still tired from walking around all day in Washington DC but extremely happy that I did not miss this event.

Yesterday was the most wonderful day for us Freedom Loving Americans marching through the streets in Washington, DC to protest Obama’s spending in our “tea party demonstration.”

Watching TV this morning on CNN with George Stephanopoulosh — I was disappointed to say the least when it was announced that there were only several thousands at this event. Of course they showed a counter group that wanted Obama’s socialized healthcare. There was really no surprise there as we had this distorted, controlled reporting from the general media for a long time now.

The TRUTH is that there were 2.5 Million “Tea Party goers” and we heard from the police that they had to turn some busses back because there were to many and the place couldn’t take anymore. You had to be there to see everything — it was just wonderful! Some were standing on the side calling out “Thank you — for coming!” It was the best event I have ever been to — everyone just came up and talked to you. People were friendly and happy coming together just like a big family who hadn’t seen each other for a very long time.

I had the opportunity to talk to some wonderful Patriots which I will always remember in my heart. It seemed like I had known these people forever.

The media should be ashamed of themselves and hang their miserable heads for not reporting the TRUTH.

Thank you to all of you dear Friends who celebrated at home and especially those of you who prayed for our safety while we were marching in Washington for our FREEDOMS!

We must keep up our good works — writing letters, making phone calls - to all the Politicians. We all must pray like we have never prayed before and not sit back and relax for a minute — because the fight has just began!

ALWAYS VICTORY!!!

GOD BLESS YOU AND MAY HIS ANGELS GUIDE, DIRECT AND KEEP YOU AND YOUR LOVED ONES SAFE ALWAYS.

GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!

Great Witnessing from people who actually ATTENDED the D.C. Tea Party

Reply 14 - Posted by: pianogirl88, 9/12/2009 5:00:08 PM (No. 5856495)

I just got home from the Tea Party ~ stayed as long as my feet and back would let me. I found that there was a lot MORE outpouring of disgust for Congress than for Obama, with people realizing that these idiots are the ones who write the bills and pass them without reading them. It was truly gratifying to see so many people there…wall to wall people. I thanks every policeman I saw and asked several if the crowds were behaving ~ they smiled and said, ”absolutely!” I got a lot of really great pictures of some fabulous signs!

Well, the Park Police said there were 1.5 million and counting at 11:30 a.m.! The Mail in London said 2 million.

All I know is there were tons of the nicest people you will ever meet. They helped one another, they made certain elderly and pregnant women had all the metro seats, they cleaned up the West Lawn of the Capitol so it was pristine at the end. And they will stay mad until either their Representatives listen or they are voted out of office!

Wahoo!!! I was there and by 11:30 one policeman said there were 1.2 million….that was before we got kickin people! I heard 1.5 - 2.0 million. More people there than at the inaugural.

Wall to wall FANTASTIC signs!!!!

Here were mine: ACORN: TAXPAYER FUNDED, White House ENDORSED, CRIMINAL ENTERPRISE and GOVERNMENT HEALTHCARE is like BRITISH TEETH and Say NO! to OBAMA DEFICIT SLAVERY Trickle Up Poverty and IT’S THE CONSTITUTION, STUPID

I was in DC i from 7:30 AM to 50 PM. What an outpouring of patriotic, everyday Americans who are personally fed up with their “congresspersons” , Obama , extra-constitutional czars, the “media”, etc. who continually sociopathically lie to your face, manipulate, cheat, and steal. You had to be there to experience the massive energy and crush of humanity forged together for this purpose. I’m disappointed to see (so far) how impoverished the coverage is. (Though I admit to rarely watching TV news.) Also I’m surprised at the low number of postings on these threads. Maybe a lot of us Ldotters’s were attending Tea Parties today. I put an “L- dot” on my sign but this didn’t draw any bites. My estimate of crowd size was 500,000 + but I couldn’t see the whole area. Thanks to poster #22 for the time lapse. They did announce the 1.5- 2 million figure to the glee of the crowd. The march down Penn was the most moving part of the day for me. Everyone was well behaved and polite. No litter. You people all make me proud to be an American.

The media are also totally ignoring all the other tea parties held all over this country for the people who couldn’t make DC. A friend in San Juan Capistrano, Ca said there were an amazing amount of people at hers.

I just got back from DC, and it was FANTASTIC! I heard counts ranging from 1.5 million up to 2.2 million. I don’t know how many were there; all I can say is that I’ve never seen that many people in one place. There was no rowdiness, no vandalism, lots of hollering, and a lot of very creative signs. The only really major problem I saw was a decided lack of porta-potties, but I think that may have been due to the crowd being much larger than anyone expected. I was somewhere near the middle of the crowd, and the people extended as far as I could see in all directions. My seat was directly across the reflecting pool from the capitol steps, front row. That may sound close, but I could not see the stage from there, nor could I hear very well. Overall, it was a resounding success.

CAN YOU HEAR US NOW?

I kept looking for Ldotters but unlike the few thousand tea party in Boston where I found one, a person could barely MOVE at this one! I kept looking for signs marked with it but there were just so many people…

I completely believe the park police’s count - I think it was them flying helicopters overhead and we were waving. It was a great day.

Also, I suspect it was the first demonstration ever where the participants were thanking the park police for their service!

Reply 47 - Posted by: millstream, 9/12/2009 10:44:06 PM (No. 5857078)

The mainstream media is doing it’s best to minimize the scope of todays demonstration to fit their agenda. I was there and did not see a single confederate flag. I walked around and I have never seen this many people in one location. While most of the signs were highly critical of policies very few were personal. Overall an event with the most well-behaved courteous group of people I have ever experienced.

Just got back a bit ago from the Tea Party in Los Angeles. Good sized crowd, not huge. I had my George Washington “WT*” sign. Standing alongside Wilshire Blvd, it was good to see a lot of positive reactions, even in the heart of Henry Waxman territory.

Reply 51 - Posted by: indigo710, 9/12/2009 11:16:46 PM (No. 5857141)

I was there. A couple of L doters came up to me and introduced themselves ( my sign had L.DOT in the corner). Esimate the the DC cops was ate over 2 mil. I stood for over 2 hours on Penn. Ave and watched the people go by , it was an endless tream and at times VERY dense. I The kept coming and coming. The march was started earlier than planned because the the huge amount of people in the staging area. DC was shut down due the incredible amount of people. People were no loger allowed into the city . It was FABULOUS. everyone was kind, frienldy and well behaved. all the sign were different, and we left the city cleaner than we found it.

FYI: all the liberal nutjobs are trying to discredit the march and say the numbers were way over estimated.

Spend a little time on the big blogs and check out some of the posts by people that actually were there. This is what you will find:

Regarding the numbers of people.

I too heard the 2.2 million number but all along as I marched I kept hearing increases in the numbers. When I first showed up at 10:30, I thought 50,000 to 75,000 – this was way over the initial expectation and nobody could get to their state flag to organize into states. When the crowd started to move at 14th street, the number rose to 250,000 to 500,000. At around 12:45 we were told over a million and possibly as many as 1.5 million. By 2:30, the number was over 2 million with someone shouting out 2.2 million — and people were still coming.

If anybody tells you this was fake or only a few thousand showed up, tell them to go to hell.

Why did I go to DC on 9/12?

Answer: FED -UP with the whole political mess- from the Presidency to Congress to the Courts refusing to give standing to the American people and our Constitutional rights.

FED-UP with the deficits, bailout, stimulus,” gov’t motors”, health care and Czars.

FED-UP with both parties and the push toward the North American Union starting with NAFTA–Open Borders–COMMUNITY REINVESTMENT ACT-Foreclosures & the BANKRUPTING of the ECONOMY.

Finally FED-UP with the media and its election swooning with the “”DNC” candidates.

Why go to DC?
It’s time to take back our country for the sake of our Founders and all who have sacrificed for our freedom.

Bob, if you weren’t present for this historical event you really missed something wonderful. The information sent out before the event said that at the end of the parade everyone had to be on the Capitol lawn and off Penn. Avenue. There were so many people that after the lawn was filled there were still multitudes in the street for block and blocks. The policemen we talked to said that they felt that there were more people here for the “Tea Party Parade” than at any other event in Washington, including the inauguration.

This was a miracle, for so many people to be gathered in such close quarters and have absolutely no problems. I did not hear any kind of confrontation or a cross word all day. People were friendly, shaking hands, thanking others for coming and giving encouragement. Not only that, everyone was making sure not to leave a mess on the grounds, there was no littering.

If only we could have gotten unbiased and truthful coverage by the media, so that the people who were not privileged to be there could have had a true report on the numbers and the real feeling of the people. Every State in the country was representated by old, young, black and white. We definitely want change, but not the Obama kind.

We have been truly blessed to have the most wonderful Country in the world and we must continue to work to keep it. Don’t stop working to correct all the terrible things that are being done to change it (not for the better). Work hard to get everyone you know involved.

‘LET’S KEEP THE POT BOILING’

Hello American Patriots!

I was in Washington, D. C. from 8:00am to 4:30pm on 9/12 to celebrate our rights and the freedoms we enjoy as Americans by protesting this out-of-control government that is taking our beloved country to “hell in a hand basket”, at record speed, and asserting my support for the principles and values that define the 912 Project. My sister and I tossed the idea of going to D.C. around for a few weeks and personal circumstances almost sealed the deal that we would not be able to make the 14-hour drive from Florida. We both decided simultaneously at the last moment that this event was more important to us, our children and grandchildren than anything else, and we needed to be there to stand in concert with those who want to preserve our Republic, their future and the freedoms that we know and love. We got on the road at 6:00am Friday and began our journey.

It was by far, the largest, most meaningful gathering of average, freedom loving, law abiding, working-class Americans that I have ever witnessed in my 64 years. There were reports from the D.C. Park Police and officials on the podium that this crowd numbered, at the very least, 1.5 million and more likely 2 million. I personally witnessed a never-ending ‘sea’ of people with the most amazing signs as far as the eye could see in every direction. The crowd consisted of senior citizens, working-class adults and families with children from all walks of life, and very heartening and hopeful to me, countless young people who were very well informed, loved their country and wanted to be there to protect their future and their freedoms. The massive crowd of patriots was enthusiastic, peaceful, friendly, helpful and decent, and, as indicated by their messages on the countless signs and banners, were very well informed and aware of the direction this government was trying to take us. There wasn’t any violence, any rioting or disrespectful behavior. People went out of their way to thank the D.C. Park Police for their service and when it was over, they simply gathered up there belongings, discarded their trash appropriately and disbanded and went back to their average American homes, families and life. I am honored to have been there as a part of our nation’s history in the making and I am inspired and energized more than ever by the experience.

I am convinced that “we…the people” do make a difference and we can preserve our Republic, and our right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. It is absolutely unconscionable that the mainstream media in this great country of ours has totally and collectively disconnected itself from its purpose, to REPORT the news accurately, keep citizens informed of the TRUTH, and to watchdog our government to safeguard against tyranny. They should forever be ashamed that they chose to ignore this historical event, downplaying the numbers and pretending that it was totally insignificant and not worth reporting. In so doing, they have confirmed that true journalism is now non-existent and the mainstream media has truly aligned itself with the radical agenda of this administration and failed the citizens of the United States of America in the process…a truly sad commentary for America. I, for one, will be forever grateful that I was there to witness and take part in this massive, peaceful movement to take back our beloved country. The mainstream media, on the other hand, should feel nothing but shame!

GOD BLESS AMERICAN, KEEP HER BEACON OF FREEDOM SHINING BRIGHTLY AS A MESSAGE OF HOPE FOR THE ALL THE WORLD TO SEE, AND KEEP HER SAFE!

March on D.C. draws 2 million!

September 12th, 2009

Press Coverage of 9/12 march
Courtesy of Examiner.com

The photo below is a view of part of the crowd of protesters who gathered in Washington, D.C. and around the country today to demand control of reckless runaway government spending and to voice their opposition to the government takeover of healthcare.

Video cam photo 912

D.C. police estimates the crowd at 1.2 million. ABC News, however, reported this afternoon that the crowd was estimated at 2 million.

By the way, one of the Patriot’s steet reporters asked one policeman what he thought:

the DC police officer said, “I’ve been here 20 years and this is the largest crowd I’ve ever seen.”

No matter which way you cut it, the size and scope of today’s citizen march on Washington is an historic, groundbreaking event. Ordinary citizens who have been called ‘the great silent majority’ normally do not protest…at least not in public. That day is long gone.

912 march

The outrage expressed by normal, everyday citizens from across the nation at the town hall meetings in August is a case in point. Never before in recent history or memory have citizens been so clearly, visibly–and audibly–enraged by the actions of their government.

These are the people who go to work everyday, pay the bulk of the taxes of the country, raise families, and do their best to provide a safe environment for themselves in their local communities. They don’t have time for ‘political activism’ as the hippies who protested the Viet Nam war.

Yet these dedicated men and women, at great personal expense, took the time to travel to Washington to make their voices heard in a tsunami of collective rage, mainly because they have become convinced that their elected leaders are not listening to them any longer.

912 photo

And you bet they want ‘change.’ They want to replace most if not all of the Representatives and Senators in Congress for being hopelessly out of touch with the citizenry. They want a President who loves liberty, the Constitution, the Bill of Rights, and who reflects that love in the policies that are proposed. They don’t want leftwing, radical extremists who espouse everything from forced abortions, healthcare rationing for the elderly, limiting free speech on radio, and other social and political engineering from bureaucrats who sit comfortably in their Washington offices while demanding that ordinary citizens in the heartland adhere to edicts that the politicians have no intention of following.

Further, these patriotic ‘peasants with pitchforks and torches’ clearly do not want the trillion-dollar proposals that add mind-boggling burdens to the national debt and budget deficit for generations to come. And they don’t want their taxes raised to pay for the Washington elitists’ insistence on unheard-of government spending that is sending the nation into debtor’s quicksand to the tune of 400 billion dollars per month since Obama took office.

912 march

The question is, will Pelosi, Reid, Barney Frank, Chris Dodd, Steny Hoyer, Charles Rangle, and Barack Obama get the message and alter the present course? Don’t count on it.

But one thing is for sure. The sleeping giant of the ‘great silent majority’ has been awakened, and they aren’t going anywhere.
