TUCSON, Ariz. – Gov. Jan Brewer is dismissing the threat of an economic boycott over the new state immigration law she signed last week.

Arizona Governor BrewerAppearing Monday at an Arizona Town Hall in Tucson, Brewer said she doesn’t believe the law is “going to have the kind of economic impact that some people think it might.”

U.S. Rep. Raul Grijalva, a Tucson Democrat, has called for a boycott of convention business for the state and other calls have come for a boycott of Arizona goods, services and tourism because of the nationally controversial immigration law.

The Arizona Daily Star reports that Brewer says outrage over the ability of police to ask people for citizenship documentation will fade. She recalled how another uproar faded when she was secretary of state and rode herd over a requirement that voters show ID at the polls.

Do these Democrats have no decency? I would suggest that
if Hispanic Democrats don’t like the rules in Arizona, I believe Harry Reid is promoting illegal immigrants. Perhaps
he would take them in Nevada. I will suggest that as a solution.

Jan Brewer makes every single politician and lawyer and AG in this country look like weasels, wimps, pansies, and spineless cowards…which they are. I applaud her courage and good common sense. We need more people like her in this world!

  3. Cabby - AZ Says:

That U.S. Representative should be recalled!!! Imagine his denigrating the state which he represents by calling for a boycott of convention business.
Talk about lack of patriotism! That shows which side some of these people will be on when push comes to shove. Being Hispanic, he will choose that side rather than the side of all the citizens he represents in Congress. Shame!!

  4. MtnMyst Says:

Doesn’t that US Representative remind you of Someone Else who said that when push came to shove, he would side against his country and with the muslims? Oh wait!! They are both Democrats!
All this vitriol and rioting is caused by a courageous Governor who is merely re-affirming that they will enforce a law which is ALREADY ON THE BOOKS!!! And what the heck is Al Sharpton doing, trying to escalate this into a ’60’s-type Civil Rights issue? Talk about your “outside agitators”!

Since most politicians in D.C.have abdicated their duties and responsibilities,I don’t see that Gov.Brewer had any other choice.
I reckon it is like the old saying “If you can’t get others to do something, then you’ll be required,to do it yourself. This Lady is a keeper.

  6. Alpha One Says:

I HAVE A SOLUTION FOR THESE DUMBOCRATS IN SURROUNDING STATES:
Offer free rides to the state borders as they don’t have border patrols than Arizona doesn’t have pay for their support. The forgiving Dumbocrats in the other states can pay. Arizona can relieve themselves of a large burden.

Did Arizona citizens elect him or was it illegal “residents”.

  9. Alpha One Says:

I’m amazed that these illegals are running around protesting holding up signs written in I guess spanish. The least they could do is write them in english. Who do the want to read them more hispanics? And catch them in their masks, guess they don’t want to be recognized as illegals, probably because they were already stopped before, don’t want the border patrol to know where their at.

  10. Alpha One Says:

If they are guest workers why aren’t they working? Because they don’t work, their just killing time until they can get the free welfare check.

  11. Alpha One Says:

    Enough, I’m on a rant. I apoligize.

  12. Isabella Says:

This amnesties are NOT WORKING. Years and years we have amnesties for millions of illegal emigrants. The same situation is repeating all over again, untill we take the right action. We have to have a legal guest workers program with ID cards, and with a strict border patrol agents. our country is going true a very hard period. Millions of americans have no jobs. Unemployment is high. How we can take on other millions of unemployed illegals. I know their life in Mexico is unbearable and miserable, but this is not the American Gov. problem it is the Mexican Gow. duty to take care of their people.

  13. goldie wilbur Says:

Lots of Mexicans do not assimilate, children learn english in school but grandma or mom and dad only speak spanish. I do think LEGAL immigrants should be compelled to learn english and as I have said previously if they break one law by coming into the country without papers, they will continue to break many laws, why do many illegals are in jail and are sent back to home country. A difficult choice for many who don’t want to stand in line. So much rain here in Oregon. God Bless America, Semper Fi

Quick someone tell Obama that they need his help in Arizona they need him to campaign for them and as he crosses into that state they need to pull over that motorcade and say “we have a suspicion that someone in this motorcade is illegally in this country and we are checking all papers”.

‘bama is hoping to get the illegal immigrant vote by pulling this stunt with the aid of Holder. it will backfire as the illegal immigrants will not vote for ‘bama anyway.

  17. heather Says:

the oath he took said, protect and defend against foreign and domestic–seems he is more interested in sending in the national guard to harass the citizens of chicago rather than protect our borders against illegal aliens—oh silly me-HE IS AN ILLEGAL ALIEN!

  18. Ann Marie Says:

I do not believe that the obummer will dare go into Arizona. With the sheriff they have down there Obummer would and could be pulled over. I have alot of respect for their Gov. and can only hope that the people in Arizona stand with her and make it known to the likes of Al Sharpton you are not going to start any problem in our state or you will be delt with according to law.It is time for the states to stand up for thir rights.

  19. Cabby - AZ Says:

Alpha One - #8 - I don’t know about who elected him, but it could have been illegals, considering all of the work that Acorn was doing about that time - you know, signing up Mickey Mouse, etc.

  20. Cabby - AZ Says:

I just heard that the State of Utah is considering a similar bill, because the illegals are leaving AZ and heading north. Also, Drudge has reported that the President of Mexico is warning Mexican citizens to be very careful when traveling to AZ. GOOD! GOOD!! GOOD!!! Other border states will probably have to enact similar legislation in order to protect their citizens from the overflow. Then what will BO do? Declare martial law? I don’t put anything past this usurper. May he feel the heat!!!

I guess I should have posted this comment on this thread instead. So here it is again:

WOW! The Alex Jones Show is the best thing that could have happen to America. It is like taking a course at university in history and politic. I listened to the interview with William Gheen… awesome! It is a MUST listen.

The things that I have learned on this show tonight are amazing. Alex talked about the Plan of San Diego… OMG! Most Americans don’t even know about this plan. He also talked about La Raza who wants to take back the south west US States and kill all white Americans over 14 years old. He explained that Mexicans after losing two wars against USA, teach their children to hate Americans. Alex say that if amnesty passes, that’s it for America, something must be done and done now.

We also have illegal immigration in Canada coming from our south borders, but there is no comparaison with your illegal immigration from Mexico. At least they don’t hate us, don’t want to kill us and don’t want to take our country… lol

Now I understand better why the Governor took such drastic measures. The government isn’t doing anything about it so I guess the States have to do it. Tomorrow, Judge Napolitano will the guest and will explain this bill in the light of the Constitution. That should be very enligthening.

  22. Dr Al Says:

Even pro-amnesty sellout AZ Sen. McShame supports the AZ Governor and contends that the illegal problem is out of control and must be stopped. He’s on the hot seat and will say anything to stay in office, which is doubtful at this time. Turn Sheriff Joe loose!

In this issue states rights trump the fed and the illegal alien in the White House, the greatest criminal in American history, favors illegal criminals over American citizens. Birds of a feather! I hear that Kenya misses their village idiot and we are hopefully in the process of returning their mentally damaged goods!

  23. thistle Says:

I don’t want anyone to think that I hate Hispanics because I do not. The town I live in is 95% Hispanic. I don’t like Illegals. I mean, illegal used to mean ‘breaking the law.’ I think many Mexican people are a proud people and they are hard workers. I don’t begrudge people wanting to better their lives, but we cannot assimulate all of the immigrants that are coming into our country. We just can’t. What I would like to see is these immigrants FIGHT to improve the conditions in their OWN country instead of coming here and trying to change ours to fit their needs. Often times, these immigrants don’t want to become Americans, thus they often use Mexican-American or African-American. How about just plain American? Except for the Indians, we were all immigrants at one time. Being an American is something to be proud of, in my opinion. If this is the country they wish to adopt, then come here legally and become an American. If not, stay and fight to change their own country.

I applaud the people in AZ who are standing up and saying, “Enough Already!”

Great idea. Maybe when Obama pulls out his wallet and the police find 40 different Social Security cards all bearing his name, do you suppose they will lock him up?

I heard the Gov.Brewer on Greta tonight, she was great, said the Feds won’t help so they had no choice but to step up and make the law. I for one agree she is a great Governor, now I like 3 women politicians, Jan Brewer, Buchanne and Palin, Buchanne spoke today in Congress and she is very well read on all the Congressional problems. The Puerto Rican event is coming tomorrow and hope all the GOP have their running shoes on as keeping up with the new transparent government we have inherited from the illegal in White House, takes a lot of energy and agility, Looks like the Demoncraps outfoxed the GOP, messing around 2-3 days with cloture and now the GOP giving up, I think, not too sure of this. God Bless America, Semper Fi

  27. Arizona Law Says:

Personally I think Arizona’s new law is a great law. We all recognize that we need to allow a better path to citizenship, but since the state can’t grant the citizenship the only way we can protect ourselves is to enforce harsher penalties against all illegal immigrants. We can’t sort the good and the bad until the Federal government acts. Instead of protesting our actions people should be petitioning their congressmen to reform immigration laws. We just want to keep the criminals and drug dealers out of our state.
